Check it out, my Hmong sista’/mentee from REACH’s Spring Shadow Nite 2012 event wrote this song and had her friend sing it. Pretty catchy if you ask me.
Southeast Asian students AND Pacific Islander students be holding it down and continuing the legacy of the Free Speech Movement.
I see you Nathalie and Emily!(Southeast Asian student Nathalie is holding the ‘Beat Standford Not Students’ sign and Southeast Asian student Emily is holding the ‘Remember the 1960’s? This is it.’ sign! I see you too Steven!(Pacific Islander Student holding up the sign saying Pacific Islanders make up .002% of the undergraduate population.)

Beautiful community,
Following up on yesterday’s Open University Strike at the University of California Berkeley, I’d like to talk about Censorship. Apparently, Congress is in the process of establishing “two well-intentioned but deeply flawed bils” that would establish a censorship system on the internet.
So this is my rhetorical question: Censorship? You best try to silent us the nation built upon the First Amendment right which includes Free Speech yet alone good luck shutting free speech down here at the birth of the Free Speech Movement at UC Berkeley. On another note: My heart is with the movement of not only Occupy Cal, Occupy Oakland or even the Occupy Movement but my heart is with the global revolution that is partaking in our world.

One love,

“Congress is considering two well-intentioned but deeply flawed bills, the PROTECT-IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
As written, they would betray more than a decade of US policy and advocacy of Internet freedom by establishing a censorship system using the same domain blacklisting technologies pioneered by China and Iran.”Source: http://www.tumblr.com/protect-the-net
