Hello beautiful community!
Are you interested in demonstrating your creative side? Would you like to help us explore what it means to be a Southeast Asian?
The UC Berkeley Southeast Asian Student Coalition (SASC) Anthology Committee would like to invite writers, poets, artists and anyone wanting to express to submit their creative works for consideration for an upcoming chapbook. We want to emphasize that this compilation is open to everyone who is interested, regardless whether or not they are UC Berkeley students.
Why Should You Participate?
To unite the voices of the current generation of Southeast Asians in America. To document and validate the histories of this generation so future generations can understand our struggles and where we come from. To better represent the Southeast Asian narrative in the public sphere
We aim to use this chapbook as the start of what may hopefully become an anthology of documented experiences that will be available not only for classroom use, but for future generations to come. Through expression, our vision is to preserve the stories of the 1.5 and 2nd generation of Southeast Asians who either have families that were refugees or are refugees themselves from the historical contexts of the Vietnam War and Khmer Rouge.
We have attached a Letter of Intent below to give us an indication of how many people are participating in this project. Please read the letter carefully to understand the submission guidelines. Once you fill out the form, please e-mail it to sasc.anthology@gmail.comby February 5, 2012 to be considered.
Important Deadlines to Remember
Letter of Intent Due: March 3, 2012
Submission: April 1, 2012 (or a requested extension deadline*)
